Working with donors, in consultation with local community organisations, FRRR helps to design and implement appropriate industry and place-based programs to address specific issues and needs.
A number of FRRR donors focus their philanthropic efforts on specific areas of interest. This could come from a strong personal connection – such as where they have lived or worked – or it reflects a commitment to supporting a particular region or industry.
For instance, in 2013/2014, FRRR administered the following programs:
- Gardiner Foundation Working in Dairy Communities Small Grants – the Gardiner Foundation annually funds projects that strengthen small Victorian dairy communities, to help build their capacity to deal with local issues, and enhance existing community infrastructure.
- Goulburn Valley - McEwen Foundation – the McEwen Foundation provides annual funding for charitable projects for rural communities within the Goulburn Valley district, Victoria.
- Lachlan Region Community grants program - the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation (VFFF) provides project funding to address specific local issues for communities in the Lachlan Shire, NSW.
